LMA RFP: Salary Survey Research Project

Objective

The Legal Marketing Association seeks a research company to survey its membership and others about current salary levels for legal marketing professionals across geography, position, firm metrics, marketing experience, and other variables.

Background

The Legal Marketing Association has conducted, through outside research companies, salary surveys in 2004 and 2005 for the benefit of our members and those interested in employment statistics on the legal profession. In the past, the survey has broken out salary information by job title, education level, geographic area of the country, LMA membership/chapter affiliation, years in marketing and firm size. The 2008 survey intends to replicate the questions asked in years past so we can show a longitudinal comparison of data. LMA would also like to find out the answers to additional questions and will work with the selected company to determine additional data within the scope of the questionnaire that will be valuable to collect. For your review we have attached PDFs of the 2004 and 2005 salary surveys.

Deliverables/Timeline

Responses are due April 21st and will be evaluated immediately. Selection of the research company will be made within two weeks and all companies who submitted a response will be notified by May 9th. Research will be conducted during May and June, 2008. LMA requests that the data be delivered to Betsi Roach, LMA Executive Director by July 30th in PDF format. The final document, including all analysis, graphs, and related content will be delivered in Microsoft Word and PDF to Betsi Roach by August 31st.

Confidentiality

LMA will provide the surveyor with an Excel file format export of member data including the LMA member's name, e-mail, position, firm name, firm size, and number of years in marketing. This will be the data reflected in the member's profile, and members are asked to update it annually upon renewal. The research company and professionals agree to hold this data in the strictest confidence and agree to not disclose it to any third party for any reason. The chosen researcher(s) also agree to keep this data in a password protected environment, and to remove any personally identifiable information from the documents that actually contain the salary amounts once the data is gathered. Finally, the chosen researcher(s) agrees to use this data exclusively for LMA purposes, and to not sell it, rent it, or use it for any third party. LMA will ask the selected researcher(s) to sign a Confidentiality Agreement.

LMA has the exclusive right to the final data and the Salary Survey report, and we are the only entity that will have the ability to publish this information.
