LMA Ohio Chapter - AkronWho should join?
Anyone involved in the promotion of law firms will benefit from membership, including:

  • Law firm marketing directors and staff
  • Attorneys and directors of client development
  • Marketing partners and managing directors in charge of marketing
  • Members of the media
  • Consultants to law firms
  • Vendors supporting legal services marketing

Members of the LMA Ohio Chapter have diverse professional backgrounds and offer creative insights to legal services marketing. Current LMA members within law firms have titles that include Chief Marketing Officer; Director, Manager or Coordinator of Marketing, Client Development, Client Services, Client Relations, Practice Development, Event Planning, Communications and Business Development.

Members are also consultants and vendors who support legal services marketing as independent contractors.

Areas of responsibility include a broad range of activities, from strategic practice development, client business development, communications coaching, research and writing to media relations, special events management, graphic design and proposal support to name a few.

How to Join
When you join the Legal Marketing Association, an international organization with regional chapters throughout the United States, Canada and Europe, you automatically become a member of your local chapter - the Ohio chapter. So to become a member of the LMA Ohio, simply sign up for membership through the LMA national web site at www.legalmarketing.org.

Membership Dues and Program Fees
Full membership dues for 2008 are $475. When you join, you receive a full year of membership from the date your membership becomes effective. Membership automatically includes international LMA and LMA Ohio. For additional information on dues structures and limited membership options, please visit the LMA national site at www.legalmarketing.org and click on "Membership Information." Dues help offset the costs of educational programs, special member receptions and on-going website maintenance.

In addition to the annual dues, the chapter charges a nominal fee for each program ($25 for members; $40 for non-members) to help offset the costs of the speakers. If you RSVP for a program and do not cancel within 48 hours prior to the meeting date, LMA Ohio will invoice you for the missed program.

LMA Ohio offers a "Thank You For Your Time" discount to those who travel from far distances to attend our programs.  If you travel 60 miles or more (one way) you will receive a 50% refund on your attendance fee (refunds are mailed post-event). The chapter also also offers free attendance to first-time attendees.
