Nanette Matys – Chapter President
Nanette MatysNanette Matys is the Director of Client Development for Osler, Hoskin and Harcourt LLP and has been with the firm for five years. Nanette's career spans 17 years of strategic marketing and business development. In addition to expertise in professional services marketing, Nanette has significant expertise in marketing financial services. Prior to joining Osler, she held executive marketing positions at Merrill Lynch in London, U.K., and in Canada. Nanette holds a Bachelor of Music in Performance from the University of Toronto.

 

 

Elizabeth Gill – Treasurer
Elizabeth R. Gill the Director of Marketing & Business Development for Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP. She is responsible for the firm’s domestic and international marketing and business development efforts. New to the legal marketing profession, Liz joined Davies after relocating to Toronto when she got married.

Prior to joining Davies, Liz spent over 10 years with The Walt Disney Company in Los Angeles. Most recently she served as Vice President, Strategic Brand Management for The Disneyland Resort in California. In this role, Liz led the development of the marketing and sales plan to launch the $1.4 billion expansion of The Disneyland Resort. While at Disney, Liz was also the Director of Corporate Brand Management where she was responsible for developing brand management guidelines for Disney-branded marketing programs, new products, and businesses domestically and internationally. Among her accomplishments, Liz led the development of the marketing and sales plan for Disney’s entry into the cruise industry and partnered with ESPN to create a long-term brand development strategy.

 

Diana Lawrence – Member-at-Large, Programming Committee Co-Chair
Diana Lawrence is the National Marketing Director of Stikeman Elliott LLP. With over 13 years experience in professional services marketing, she is responsible for the overall marketing and business development direction for the firm’s 450 lawyers across Canada and in London, New York and Sydney. Diana leads a team of professionals focusing on practice marketing, new business development, Client Relationship Management solutions, branding and key client programs.

Prior to joining Stikeman Elliott LLP, Diana was the Director of Marketing for A.T. Kearney Canada Inc. Based in Chicago, A.T. Kearney is one of the world's leading management consulting firms.

Diana is a board member of The Chawkers Foundation, a private foundation based in Montréal, which supports educational and environmental programs.

 

Lynda Monteith – Member-at-Large, Programming Committee Co-Chair
Lynda Monteith is the Director of Marketing for Lang Michener LLP in Toronto. Lynda oversees a team of marketing professionals who are responsible for brand management, client relationship management, and new business development. Lynda has significant experience implementing client relationship management and retention programs for law firms including the development of client teams.

Lynda has over 18 years of marketing experience, including 16 years specializing in professional services marketing. She has worked with a some of Canada’s largest professional services firms, including law, accounting, and consulting firms.

 

Dianne Rychlewski – Member-at-Large, Sponsorship Committee Chair
Dianne Rychlewski is the Director of Marketing & Client Development for McMillan Binch Mendelsohn LLP, one of Canada’s top 20 law firms. She is responsible for the firm’s overall marketing and business development strategy in the domestic, cross-border, and international markets.

Dianne has over 18 years’ progressive marketing experience within international B2B markets. In addition to professional services, most of her time has been spent within the high-tech and telecommunications sectors, specifically in the development and management of corporate branding, public and investor relations, and marketing communication departments bridging international markets.

Prior to joining McMillan Binch Mendelsohn, Dianne was responsible for Global Marketing at Nortel Networks, and also held senior management positions with Unisys and other market leaders within the telecom and smart card technology sectors.

 

Stuart Wood – Member-at-Large, Membership Committee Chair
Stuart Wood is the Director of Marketing and Business Development for Torys LLP. He oversees the marketing, business development, communications, and public relations efforts of the firm in both Toronto and New York. Working with the Managing Partner and the Executive Committee of the firm, he also has responsibility for the overall strategy of the firm.

Prior to joining Torys, Stuart was a consultant with McKinsey & Company.

 

Elizabeth Cockle – Member-at-Large, Marketing & Communications Committee Chair
Elizabeth Cockle is the principal of EC Writing, which provides writing and editing services to professional services firms and B2B companies. She cuts through the clutter of legalese, financialese, and corporatese to create marketing copy that speaks to clients in language they understand. Her specialty in legal marketing began when a client approached her in search of a “good writer who isn’t a lawyer.”
